What does the badge mean?
Sky blue circular badge with a ship, three diagonal stripes, and an eagle, "Manchester City FC" text. What does it mean? The ship represents Manchester's maritime trade heritage — despite being inland, Manchester was connected to the sea via the Manchester Ship Canal, opened in 1894, which made it one of Britain's busiest ports. The three diagonal stripes are taken from the arms of the City of Manchester. The eagle references the club's earlier incarnation as Ardwick AFC.
