Southampton

Founded 1885 "Play Up Saints"

What does the badge mean?

Red and white shield with a halo and a star, "Southampton FC" text. The halo references the club's founding by members of St Mary's Church Young Men's Association in 1885 — Southampton were originally known as St Mary's FC, and the halo reflects that religious origin. The star above the badge represents the club's FA Cup victory. Red and white stripes have been worn since the 1890s.
