Tottenham Hotspur

Founded 1882 Audere Est Facere

What does the badge mean?

White shield with a cockerel standing on a ball, "Spurs" text. The cockerel is one of football's great badge symbols, dating to the early 1900s when a player commissioned a bronze cockerel to sit atop the old White Hart Lane stand. The cockerel references Harry Hotspur — the club's namesake, a medieval knight from the Percy family known for his fighting spirit and speed. A cockerel's spurs (the sharp claw on its leg) gave rise to the nickname "Spurs." The ball under the cockerel's foot signifies dominance.
