What does the badge mean?
The wolf is a straightforward reference to the club's nickname, which itself derives from "Wolverhampton" — a name with Old English roots meaning "Wulfruna's high settlement," Wulfruna being a Saxon noblewoman who founded a monastery in the area in 985 AD. The wolf therefore connects the badge all the way back to the city's Anglo-Saxon origins. Gold and black are the club's traditional colours, worn since the 1890s.
